BPD: only attention seekers or are some seriously ill?

People with Borderline Personality Disorder often have difficulty with their emotions as they try to form relationships. They often find it hard to communicate and compromise making it frustrating for family and friends to understand them. Medical experts suggest that people with borderline personality disorder display extreme behavior such as anger, hatred, dislike and more.

Other disorders are common for borderline personality disorder sufferers include; eating disorder, depression, alcoholism and many more. Suicide attempts are common; however, people usually only harm themselves to express their emotions. It is important to remember that sufferers are not manipulative and attention seekers when socializing with them.

There is no cure for borderline personality disorder; however, it can be controlled if people are prepared to adapt and adjust their lifestyle.

If you are concerned about you or a loved one see your doctor for an assessment and proper diagnosis. You can see a second opinion if you are not happy with the result; however, be prepared to accept if it is confirmed. In conclusion, support groups are available to help, educate and guide you as well as your family if you think you need them.
